Benefic 8 star and an Establish Day (建 Jian)

Construction is favoured on an Establish day

MOON LORE :: PERSONAL + BUILDING + GARDENING + GROOMING for 8th May 2019

🌕 CHINESE ALMANAC

On the 8th May, the 12th ruling Officer or Deity in the Tong Shu (Chinese Almanac) is Jian 建 an Establish day.

The influence of an Establish deity, is a very good day in the Chinese Almanac. On such days the earthly branch matches the month branch implying they support each other and thus adds an auspicious note to the day. Only yesterday we welcomed the month of the ‘Yin Earth Snake’ and today it’s the the day of the Snake; however, the snake is yin fire and is in clash with the yin water Pig - which is the ruling animal of the year. As Grandmaster Raymond Lo highlighted, ‘Such clash between fire and water will trigger air and sea disasters, more accidents, natural disasters and will also bring turbulence to stock market.’ Sadly this was born out with yesterdays Moscow plane accident and global stock market sinking because of bad news regarding US China Trade War.

Today’s snake day is the Heavenly stem of yin wood which supports the Earthly branch of the fire serpent. In the productive cycle, Wood feeds Fire, which reinforces the element of Fire and therefore the clash.

👥 PERSONAL

In the main, Establish days bode well for engagements, business proposals, launch campaigns, travel, visiting friends or assuming office/changing jobs; providing, fire is a favourable element in your birth chart. Basically energies are supportive of most endeavours but marriage, demolition, dispatching or paying for goods, or burials are deemed inauspicious pursuits for the day.

🏡 BUILDING

Good news building wise, with renovation and construction getting the thumbs up. If you had demolition works planned or breaking ground like setting out the buildings footings, then it’s best to hold off today, especially if you were commencing a building project in the SW footprint of the home.

🌠 FENG SHUI

We welcomed the Earth snake month on May 6th, but in flying stars* feng shui, the '8' star is residing in the central palace this month, along with the Annual year star which follows the sequence of the Lo Shu - it’s a triple ‘8’ trapped in the centre, implying a money / people 'locked or imprisoned' month depending on the year your home was constructed. So this month may involve pressure on finances or relationship/health issues. And the malefic 5 and 2 stars also triple, in the South West (5) and the North East. In Taoist Feng Shui, these directions are known as the Gates of Mystery or the Devil’s Pass. The ‘8’ star is benevolent and in the centre it’s at the Tai chi of the home so it’s worth hanging here to pick up some benevolence and try mitigate the “locked’ phase. Try steer clear of the SW this month in general, especially if you have a door that opens to the SW, or a master bedroom is in the SW, your relationships could be fractious.

* Flying Stars are part of the energetic blueprint of any given interior space. Calculations are performed on a space based on its orientation and year of construction.

🌿GARDENING

The moon is VOC (void of course) on Wednesday from 10:49 am AEST till 8:06 pm. Wicca folk veer far from magical work under VOC’s. So if you’re not harvesting herbs for a spell or setting seeds for future astrological magic work I’d veer away for such task until after 8pm. After the VOC, the moon moves from Gemini into her home sign of fertile fecund Cancer for night time duty and the next 2.5 ish days. Planting or harvesting herbs/plants associated with the Moon, might be wise for astrological magic work. As it’s Autumn here in the Southern Hemisphere, gourds are in my mind, and pumpkins and gourds are linked to the moon. Find more into on moon musings linked to the moon and cancer here.

If the daylight permits in your part of the globe, then Cancerian moons are lush and fertile signs for zodiacal gardening. Fertilizing is an optimum task, of course choose natural fertilizers and steer clear of chemicals. Irrigating is also an option under a water sign. Reinforced by the currents moons phase, the waxing cycle is productive for growth.

Cancerian moon phases are very productive and it’s said to be the No.1 zodiacal sign for flowers, planting and transplanting all crops. Root crops also do well under this signs influence. Equally so for planting above ground crops, like leafy greens when under the influence of a Waxing (growing) moon. Garden lore by the moon has an exception for plants like runner beans and peas, which twine themselves around supporting poles in an anti-clockwise direction and should therefore be sown in a waning moon!

Grafting is also encouraged in fecund Cancerian moon. And if mowing the lawn is your favourite pursuit then during the first and second quarter phase to increase the lushness of your lawn.

✂️ GROOMING

Watch out for the VOC times (see above) but as the moon is in the fertile water sign of Cancer it’s a great time for a colour treatments and perms - if such things still exist. As the moon is waxing, it’s growing in light so growth is increased and thus ideal for a trim or cut to encourage faster hair growth.

🐲 CHINESE ANIMALS

It’s a Snake day so if you were born in the year of the Snake, Ox, Rooster, Monkey, Horse or Goat then today's (and this lunar month) energies will suit you best. The most benevolent hours of the day are between the hours of 1-3am Ox hours followed by 7-9pm.
