Sept 7, 2021 — Are you Ready for Rooster month? This year the Lunar and Solar month of the Rooster tee up. With the Lunar Yin Fire Rooster month commencing when the New Moon occurs in your domicile (Sydney @ 10:51am, more times below*) and the Solar month sparks up @ 19.55pm (Sydney). The eighth lunar month in the Chinese Calendar is known to the Ancients as Osmanthus month and depicted in paintings by the pairing of sparrows and rice.
MONKEY MONTH MUSING
Before we dig into Rooster reflections, how was Monkey month for you? Did Monkey Mind come knocking on your door? I took a little break from my News feeds - tricky when you’re tracking predictions - but a welcome pause. It was especially sobering to see the Afghanistan situation unfold with ‘gorilla - pun intended - guerilla warfare …. sadly rearing its ugly head’ and Biden’s part in the outcome saw him labelled a ‘liar’ something we spoke of in the monthly forecast. Whilst I predicted ‘Conflict Cycles’ in the 2021 ANNUAL forecast, not everything makes the cut. And the details of the Afghan war wasn’t included, but I hope to pen some thoughts from my annual notes on that one later this week. However, as I write our Sierra Leone prediction has manifest as soldiers have ousted Guinea’s long-serving President Alpha Conde, dissolving it’s government and constitution, and closing its land and air borders. Guinea-Sierra Leone have a long standing boundary sovereign issues. Sierra Leone gained Independence from Britain and France in 1961, and the boundary then became one, between Guinea and Sierra Leone sovereign states.
Sierra Leone also made headlines as it vaxxed children with a new Polio shot, regular readers will note the vaccine for Polio was a major theme of the former sexagenary cycle (1961). And strikingly, our Japan and Mailchimp predictions also manifested on cue. The PM of Japan announced his resignation and Mailchimp in talks to sell for 10Billion! Pleasingly, on a feel good note in Monkey month no less, the last circus monkey was returned to the wild in Peru. Swipe through news headlines below. Throughout each month on our 24hr stories on Insta and FB social media pages. And you’ll find all our annual predictions and more in Part 1 & Part 2 of our 2021 Year ahead Forecast. Below are afew slides of August predictions.
🐓 YIN FIRE ROOSTER 丁酉 Month :: 7 Sep. - 8 Oct.
The reign of Yin Fire Rooster is elementally partnered with the outgoing Monkey, so themes from the outgoing month will persist. With an Autumnal emphasis we’ll see ‘Metal’ related themes implode over the coming weeks. Yin Fire, sits on top of a Metal Rooster, implying conquering and controlling nuances with the ability to transform and reshape. But, Yin Fires transformative prowess is not as mighty as last month’s Yang Fire — it’s more delicate and faint — so the transformation will be less noted, but conflicting and destructive none the less. However, this months pillar does sit on it’s very own Nobleman, considered its Personal Guide, when navigating challenges. Such Qi is available to one and all this month. But people born on Fire days or years (i.e ending in 6 or 7) will innately sense this benefic energy. This pillar formation has various meanings, but in the main carries a scholarly vibe and considered a revered and honoured pillar. Easier homeschooling experiences, I’m hoping.
In western folklore rooster’s rap sheet isn’t up to scratch. With feisty cockerels steeped in all manner of omens, but the less veiled prophecy of forecasting rain, is prized in farming lore — illustrated by ubiquitous rooster topping weather-vanes! In eastern culture, the cockerel’s compass points to frank candour. We’ll be invited to tune into the feathered messengers’ cues, most potent pre dawn; when night-sky lightens before the sun rises and roosters herald the onset of the rising sun. Signs/omens await in plain sight and crowed, for the deniers. Best times to discern are Ox hours 3-5am, or 5-7pm Rooster hours -both windows emphasize the first glimpse and last glance of sol (sun) - echoing the Roosters universal solar and resurrection symbology.
Refining one’s sense of smell, literally and metaphorically speaking is also encouraged. We’ll recognize ‘rank’ smells and perhaps even rank systems, specifically in military hierarchy – owing to Rooster’s symbolic ties to Army. The notoriety of ‘rank’ is ambiguous — like the soldiers of guerrilla warfare and self-ranking. The cockerel’s comb signals aspirations for advancing and promotion. Perhaps less so on career goal fronts; manifesting more globally with an ‘uprising’ or military advance. After all, the rooster is known for fierce cock fighting and war maybe sparked via Yin Fires presence in month pillar (911 happened under such a month pillar and also under a wider 20 year cycle, also relevant in Feng Shui metaphysics). However, resources could hamper an army of strutting troops. Not withstanding Afghanistan, Myanmar, Guinea and Haiti all in heated conflict cycles. We may see unrest brew or friction arise in other countries — Japan, China, Taiwan, Nepal, Argentina/Uruguay, Korea, Niger, Malawi, Rwanda, Namibia and Bangladesh. The ensuing Lockdowns and isolation, travel restrictions and border closures emphasize the proverbial feeling of being caged. It’s about coops and coups (as in, coup d'état) and resurrection.
Military alliances aside, roosters are good omens, virtuous, honest, candid and courageous. I’m predicting France to feature prominently in World events over the coming weeks. Coventry, Belgium, Tottenham, Kelloggs and Le Coq will also headline News feeds. Perhaps such countries are tied to aviation and/or female flight attendants - Jal, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, Singapore airlines, Air Mauritius, Taca Airlines and Air Algerie. Banking wise, coin and currency also headline. I’m not surprised to see El Salvador headline with Bitcoin accept as official legal tender. Primarily due to Fire conquering Metal, coin and digital currency is a 2021 theme, but also noteworthy is El Salvador’s independence, as a republic in February 1841, which activates a sexagenary cycle relating to borders and sovereign states. Industry wise, nuclear energy will be topical. As well as military arsenal, think bullets, daggers, weaponry etc. In China the Rooster is an emblematic symbol of an Ancient mythological bird called a Fenghuang — a Chinese Phoenix — encompassing the Five Constant Virtues (wûcháng) - specifically righteousness (yì) and propriety (lǐ) are triggered. Hence why decorum and self-righteousness could manifest as an uprising of sorts. People are likely to rise up and the chatter of woke and awakening is likely to dominate headlines. The plight of Afghan women instantly springs to mind.
Beauty and touch modalities may bring some joy. But keep an eye on affairs of the heart, with Roosters flights of fancy triggering wandering eyes - we could see some wings clipped, as promiscuous skeletons come to light. You’ll recall topics like speech, lungs, mind, mental health, loneliness and judgement topics were activated last month — Expect more of the same. Only this month, young females, beauty, plus force/open themes add to the mix. The hairdressers scissors could be snipping locks very soon. As the lungs are highlighted on numerous levels, expect some reporting of Avian flu in broadsheets.
Pleasingly the domesticated fowl does form part of a triple harmony, with the annual domesticated bovine, leaving the reptile of the Zodiac to complete the triad (18 & 30th hold promise). Therefore peeps born in the year of the Snake, Ox or Dragon will vibes with this month’s energies. Those with a Dragon in their chart will find a soulmate quality over the next solar month. If you have a Rabbit and a Rooster in your BaZi then the month could feel somewhat challenging — Roosters avoid self sabotaging — the aforementioned affairs of the heart may arise.
🌠 FENG SHUI :: 7 Sep. — 8 Oct.
Feng Shui wise a discrete rooster figurine is a valued remedy in a pratitioners toolkit - especially in many urban city settings. But remedies aside, Roosters are known for their candour. You’ll appreciate when I say this months FS is gnarly!
Granted the Rooster’s shift takes pressure off the former SW axis. But the Metal governed West (W2) is the rooster’s roost. Not only on elemental sector fronts but also Feng Shui monthly and Annual stars, it all speaks to Metal qualities. Seasonally strong in Autumn, the Annual and Monthly stars (#6 & #7) are therefore in positions of power. The duo get to the heart of the matter in the central palace, stoking the desire to get out and party or indulge in social bevies. The toll on the mind remains, uber intense. Attempts to suppress the loose mouthed nature of the star ‘7' can be futile — think twice before verbalizing the ramblings of an overactive mind. Social butterflies may feel like their wings are clipped. Emotions and words are sharp and cutting, worry, grief and regrets are peppered with flickers of hatred. Health wise take care when wielding sharp objects, as blood will be drawn. Blood, hormones and perhaps in union with sharp needles, may specifically be honed in on.
Apart from clarity, nailing something or seeing the heart of matters, this month’s FS chart also has a unique attribute called a ‘String of Pearls’ in English. Sounds trinket like and intriguing? Admittedly the true implications are skewed as we don’t have Mtn or Water stars to decipher. On this occasion, I’m leaning toward ‘it could be favourable’ purely on ascension grounds. However this is couched in wherever irksome stars transit, matters escalating and intensifying sector themes. The East is my number one avoid sector, as it’s tied into Health matters, and has the star power to turn family harmony on its head, given home detentions are already at fractious levels. Best practice is to try use infrequently. Bolster your health by maintaining your well-being regimes, especially mind, your mind. Those tethering on maintaining a degree of sobriety during lock-down periods would benefit from a spell of abstinence.
The West sector; the natural domicile of the poultry king, holds the most Noble (8) star and arguably the current Noble (9)star, which by far the most auspicious direction this month. But its not without its issues, and autumnal sector is super active.
I’ll leave the last word to the governing Monthly Hexagram, which is sometimes substituted for #20. I follow an iChing Calendar that represents the eighth month as #30 - Clinging - Double fire. It’s the hexagram for ‘Clarity’, and with a strong metal Rooster month, this is to my mind, more fitting and relevant. The sun is doubled - the rooster’ solar ties another reason for #30. I’ll say it again; I’m blown away each month by the accuracy of a Chinese Classic (iChing) in relation to unfolding global COVID response !
For one’s nature to be transfigured, one must cling to the forces of spiritual life. Human life is conditioned and limited. Before one can achieve success, one must accept these limitations and make oneself dependent upon the harmonious and beneficent forces of the cosmos. Only by cultivating, within oneself, a cowlike docility , in an attitude of compliance and voluntarily dependence, can one acquire clarity without sharpness or arrogance and find one’s place in the world. (translation by R. Wilhelm).

DO YOU MISS THE OLD BLOG FORMAT?
We’re testing a NEW BLOG FORMAT. Our 24 solar terms blogs, are available as separately. Which do you prefer older format or current style ?. . . You”ll find the corresponding 15th SOLAR TERM term here. And for S.H peeps, the the seasonal vibes of the 3rd Solar term is worth a read.
* The relevance of the ancient Chinese Almanac and the 24 Solar Terms (or seasonal nodes, as they are sometimes referred to), were not only for agricultural purposes; individuals took cues from the Nodes and adopted various seasonal diets and exercise. Calculated via the sun's annual motion, they discern the year's change in season by way of phenology, climate and the tilt of the sun varying shadow length on the ecliptic to decipher a season.
Phenology, is one of three methods used to decipher seasons - it uses the changes in plant and animal behaviour - such as animal migration, types of plants, and changes in colours in the landscape - to determine when the seasons begin. The Chinese seasons commence 1½ months before the comparative seasons in the Western Calendar. The 24 solar terms are used to insert leap (intercalary) months in the Chinese calendar to keep it in sync with seasons.
