⁺ Training

I arrived at Feng Shui’s door and it at mine, when I needed it most. Prior to this I was defined by my career. During a sabbatical and hiatus from the world of publishing, I soon found myself embracing motherhood and living in a different hemisphere! With a very new perspective on the sense of place and space I now called 'home’, my journey into the world of Eastern metaphysics commenced.

Formerly attuned to the Northern hemispheres seasonal Wheel of Nature, I had to go back to basics and tune into my new Terra firma. Through the lens of the Tao - Listening, Seeing and Feeling the seasons I began to hone my craft. Learning quickly that coffee table tomes were not providing the depth of knowledge I hungered for, so I up skilled as a Geomancer and Sacred Space consultant. My perpetual thirst for learning kicked in once more. My dry sense of humour is well matched with a dry Martini - liquid aside, the stemware is – classic - as is my training. I pursued formal Feng Shui qualification study with two equally respected schools of Feng Shui in Australia. (There goes the Gemini in me again!) I’m a traditional and classic trained Feng Shui practitioner in the Form School (identifying landforms) and qualified also in the Advanced School of Flying Stars (deciphering the Chinese Lopan).

The nuances of Feng Shui and Geomancy have strengthened my refined sense of eyeing and speaking the language of the land - both my motherland and my new homeland. The time was ripe to bring into being FENG SHUI ISM’s place in the stratosphere. Chief among the reasons was to found and establish a genuine creditable place where pure, authentic Feng Shui services were available to clients - untouched by some diluted Western spin offs. Rest assured I abide by the governing tenants of the discipline and adhere fastidiously and authentically when applying to Modern day living - without losing the wisdom and essence of the Eastern practice.

⁺ Early years

Born and raised in Ireland, I was taught to value skilled artisan crafts and traditions from a young age. My strong connection to ‘land’ is innately rooted in Celtic mythology, shamanic ways and folklore. My lineage is both North and South of the border and the country's well-documented land legacy is deeply etched into the fabric of my being. Irish mythology has been a rich learning tool and one I draw upon time and time again.

Growing up with building and construction language was common parlance, my inspirational father taught me to draw architectural plans by hand when I was in primary school. Through reading 2D architectural plans I’d developed a knowing for 3Dspace, volume, measurements as well as geographical terrain, foundations, light, shelter and elements . . . little did I know my childhood playground also befit the training ground for all things Feng Shui. Maternal wisdom came for my grandmother's and mother's amazing gardening skills, my gardening alamancs are testiment to their green fingers.

With first class honours under my belt, I kick started my career in Artisan textiles, working with a high caliber industry leader in London. I founded my own highly successful interior styling practice, which was built on solid referrals and I counted architects, designers, artisans and international luxury brands amongst my clients. Working freelance as an interior and photographic stylist for magazines I was then approached to head up an architectural magazine as Editor-in-chief and went onto have three interior/architectural mastheads under my editorship. I continued to consult in the luxury end of the market and designed and executed trade show exhibitions at International trade shows. Interestingly Chinese and Western Astrology combine to give voice to choosing career paths - Venus is related to the metal element and Saturn to Earth - both of which clearly brought success and harmony into my career.
